Ever since 1985, Felice Romani Musical Association (Moneglia-GE) has carried out its commitment to diffuse the culture of music in accordance with the Association's statutes by organising:

  • A series of classical music concerts.


  • Intenational Summer Courses for Musical Advancement (Master classes of ancient, Baroque, modern and contemporary music).

  • Conferences
    Some of the events organised by the Association have often involved conferences aimed at promoting the culture of music relation to other artistic spheres. Many experts have taken part in these conferences including musicoligists, experts in the History of Art, Italian and foreign University professors (among which M.Joel Dugor, researcher in musical organology and iconography at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique du Musée de la Musique - Paris, Cité de la Musique, Professor Edoardo Sanguineti, etc.)


  • National and International competitions and exhibitions.
    The Association has promoted the planning and realisation of the "Concorso Internazionale di Interpretazione Chitarristica di Opere di Nicolò Paganini e contemporanei". (International Competition of Guitar Interpretations of the works of Nicolò Paganini and contemporaries". This initiative was accomplished in 1990 to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the death of Nicolò Paganini.


  • Interdisciplinary projects connected with the culture of music : exhibitions etc.


  • Planning and founding the "Felice Romani Study Centre", inaugurated on 4th July 1998 in the Torre della Fortezza di Villafranca.


  • The publication of "Note d'Autore" a twice-yearly periocal of cultural information which illustrates te activity of the Association.
    The November edition of "Note d'Autore" has been completely dedicated to presenting the work carried out by the Study Centre and it welcomes the collaboration of anyone wishing to publish articles regarding Felice Romani and his work as well as librettists in general.


Some of the particularly interesting past events are the following:

  1. A celebration of Felice Romani on the bicentenary of his birth. An event featuring two concerts held in collaboration with the Teatro Comunale dell'Opera di Genova, the exibition "Felice Romani e il suo tempo: frammenti di un'epoca", ("Felice Romani and his times: fragments of an era") in collaboration with the Teatrical Mesuem at the Scala Opera House in Milan, and an International Study Convention (speakers Gimpiero Tintori, Friedrich Lippman, John Black, Bruno Cagli, Raoul Meloncelli, Alberto Cantu, Andrea Sommaria, Edilio Frassoni, Stefano Verdino).

  2. The "Concorso Internazionale di Interpretazione Chitarristica di Opere di Nicoḷ Paganini e contemporanei".

  3. The publication of the book "Felice Romani. Melodrammi, Poesie, Documenti" for Olscki publisher of Florence (Historiae Musicae Cultores). This volume was presented in 1996 at the Eugenio Montale Auditorium in the Carlo Felice Theatre in Genoa and was followed by a concert of lyrical chamber music and extracts from operas.

  4. With material from the archives of the Study Centre, the Association participated in the echibition "Documenti d'arte e storia" promoted by the Municipality of Moneglia which was held in the palazzo Ducale in Genoa as part of the 2004 event "Genoa:European Culture Capital".
The Study Centre, founded to encourage deeper historical awareness of the 19th century's greatest Italian librettist and consequently his affinity, not only sentimental, with Moneglia, is also committed to the following:

  • The promotion of research and collateral activity, publications, congresses and the foundation of a bibliographical, audio-visual, documentary and museum implementation.


  • The realisation of Romani projects, the "teaching concerts" for high school and University students.


  • The assignment of scholarships in favour of research, to encourage young students to partecipate in congresses and/or in the Study courses organised by the Centre.
